The process of travel for most people starts with going to the airport. Some people choose taxis and public transport. Others use their mobile devices to summon an Uber or Grab vehicle. Some airlines offer chauffeur services to their high end passengers who usually fly First or Business Class. Qatar Airways is starting its own chauffeur service for all passengers, regardless of cabin class.
The airline will be partnering with Blacklane, who will provide ride options for passengers ranging from Business Class, business vans, SUVs or First Class cars. Customers can book rides along with their flight reservations on the Qatar Airways app and website. Using credit card payments, the service aims to alleviate the need for passengers to have local currency and it will be charged after the ride.
“Our partnership with Blacklane is an innovation that we know our passengers will value. Offering luxurious door-to-door transfers will enhance their overall travel experience when they fly with Qatar Airways,” Group chief executive Akbar al-Baker said.
Founded in 2011, Blacklane is Berlin, Germany based startup offering chauffeur services for travelers. According to its website, the company has a presence in major cities in China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore.
Qatar Airways new chauffeur-driven service is available for passengers at more than 85 Qatar Airways destinations around the world. Blacklane is also available in more than 500 airports worldwide, including the majority of destinations served by the airline’s codeshare and interline partners.
“We are confident that this new seamless chauffeur service will be quick, convenient and in line with our company ethos to keep our customers at the heart of everything we do,” al-Baker stressed.
