Qatar Airways is extending a program that allows travellers connecting in Doha, Qatar to spend their time during their stopover in the Gulf state.

In May, Qatar Airways introduced the +Qatar program which gives participants a 96 hour Qatar visa for free and a free night stay. An extra night would cost around USD $50. The program was scheduled to end in September 2017. However, the offer is being extended for passengers who book through December 31st and travel by April 30, 2018. Bookings to avail the benefits of the program is done on the airline's website.

The offer is targeted at those who travel between Europe and Asia, where flight times could last more than a day. The stopover could occur on either part of a round-trip journey, allowing for a weary traveller a rest stop in between a city in Europe such as London and Bangkok or Auckland, New Zealand.

The airline continues its partnership with the Qatar Tourism Authority to boost the Gulf-state's tourism industry. It came after Qatar officials introduced a Transit Visa in November of 2016, in an attempt to attract visitors who would have normally limited their Qatar experience spending a few hours at the airport in between flights.

According to Qatar Tourism Authority, there has been a 53% increase in stopover passengers after the implementation of the Transit Visa.
