There's just so much airport developments throughout Asia. We hear a lot of stories about new plans in Singapore and Hong Kong, to the opening of new terminals and new air fields in China and in South Korea. One place that is has gone under the radar when it comes to coverage for new airport developments is Macau. A few days ago, the "Las Vegas of Asia" just opened up a new terminal expansion to accommodate more travellers.

The Macau Airport just opened up its new north extension that covers 14,000 square meters to accommodate to almost 8 million passengers a year.

Among the enhancements to the terminal include a new boarding bridge and four remote gates for boarding. Also, more gate counters and a new baggage handling system has been installed for arriving passengers. The new terminal will also have enhancements to improve electricity use and design for a more comfortable and spacious environment for passengers.

Work began on the project in November 2015, and opened right before the Chinese New Year period. Macau's airport operator expects to see more travellers coming to see the city's attractions or to gamble at a casino on the Cotai Strip from Southeast Asia and mainland China.
