Starting this month, travelers with flights with a select international carriers from Taipei Taoyuan Airport could check-in for their flights at Taipei’s Main Station which has previously been open only for Taiwan-based carriers.

Travelers with same-day departures on Cathay Pacific (including Cathay Dragon flights), AirAsia/AirAsia X, and Philippines AirAsia could use the service. According to the Taoyuan International Airport Corporation (TIAC), Japan Asia Airways and Thai AirAsia will offer the service “in the future.”

First launched in March 2017, outbound travelers from Taipei could check-in for their flights at Taipei Main Station at least three hours before their scheduled departure. After checking-in, travelers can choose to explore the city or immediately take the 35-minute ride on the MRT.

According to the TIAC, the in-town check-in service has served around 300,000 travelers since its launch.
