Starting December 18, Guangzhou-based China Southern will launch a new connection to the US mainland with a new route to Los Angeles.

The new route will be China Southern’s 8th direct route to the United States, which will see Airbus A330 deployed on the thrice-weekly service.

"This route is our first direct flight from North America to the three northeastern provinces of China. We hope the flight will help promote economic growth and cultural exchanges between the two sides, and build a bridge to link people closer together," said Hou Ming, head of China Southern Airlines North America.

Located in northeast China, Shenyang was the first capital of China in the 1600s and has become a prominent industrial zone. The new route will provide Los Angeles a second link to mainland China, joining its existing services to Guangzhou. In the United States, China Southern also operates flights to New York and San Francisco from Guangzhou and Wuhan.
