Travel website AirlineRatings.com announced its Top 20 safest airlines for 2019, naming Australia’s Qantas as the safest carrier of the year.
While the Australian carrier took the top spot, AirlineRatings took a different take on the list this year by not ranking the top 20 or the top 10 low cost carriers. Making the list from Asia this year are Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA), Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific, Taiwan’s EVA Air, and Singapore Airlines.
For the top airline, the website singled out Qantas as the safest carrier which the editors pointed out its safety record of its 98-year history.
AirlineRatings analyzed data of 405 global airlines and making the list based on 12 separate criteria, including audits from governments, aviation's governing bodies and lead associations.
On a separate list for the top 10 safest low cost carriers, Hong Kong-based HK Express and Jetstar (Australia/Asia) made the list.
