Japan's All Nippon Airways (ANA) will be upgrading its domestic aircraft with new seats, including the addition of more premium class domestic seats.
The Tokyo-based airline will upgrade 8 Boeing 777-200s and 11 Boeing 787-8s used on domestic routes starting this fall and is scheduled to be completed at the start of 2022.
For the new seats, ANA selected Japan-based automotive seat designer Toyota Boshoku for the new economy seats. ANA has used the seats on 6 Boeing 767s, receiving positive feedback from customers. The seats feature a 11.6 inch touchscreen Inflight Entertainment System (IFE) monitor and a beverage holder.
Along with the economy class seats, ANA will increase the premium seats on the aircraft to be upgraded to a total of 28. Currently, the Boeing 777-200s have 21 while the 787-8s have 12.
