Vietnam’s largest low cost airline VietJet is set to become the first Vietnam-based airline to launch flights to India, following the approval of a request made by the airline to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.

VietJet’s plans for its India routes will see the airline launch flights from both Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to Delhi. The Ho Chi Minh-Delhi flights will start on December 6 and will operate on a four-times weekly basis. The Hanoi-Delhi flights will start on December 7 and operate a thrice-weekly basis.

The Vietnam-based budget carrier will follow India’s budget airline IndiGo which will launch daily non-stop flights between Kolkata and Hanoi starting October 3.

India will become the 13th country/territory on VietJet’s network. Along with its domestic flights, the VietJet currently operates international flights from Vietnam to cities in Thailand, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, China, Malaysia, and Japan.
