If you happen to have plans to travel with Turkish Airlines including routes between Asia to other destinations on the airline's network could soon get free accommodation while at Istanbul.

In a bid to boost visits to Turkey, the country's flag carrier will offer free hotel accommodations for economy and business class travelers with roundtrip tickets on the carrier's flights making connections at Istanbul (Istanbul Airport or Sabiha Gokcen Airport) with a layover time longer than 20 hours.

The new offer is applicable for travelers from the carrier's network in Asia including from China, Japan, Thailand, and Malaysia. Depending on one's point of origin, destinations that the offer will be applicable will vary based on the country which could include final destinations in Europe, the Americas, Africa, and/or the Middle East.

While the hotel accommodation will be free, extra costs such as visa fees will be the traveler's responsibility to take care of.

To avail the offer, travelers will have to apply via email with the airline sales representatives in their respective countries no later than 72 hours prior to departure.

Turkish Airlines' offer competes with other airlines especially those from the Middle East as a way to boost interest in visiting their countries in what would otherwise be a layover involving staying inside the terminal. Among the airlines that market similar programs include Etihad, Qatar Airways, Emirates, and Singapore Airlines. Depending on the airline, some such as Singapore Airlines add extra fees for this add-on.
