After suspending domestic routes in an effort to the contain the COVID-19 outbreak, Vietnamese airlines is eying the resumption of routes upon the expiration of government imposed social distancing regulations.

Airlines such as VietJet and Bamboo Airways are eying a resumption of domestic flights on April 16 – when the government imposed guidelines are set to expire.

"The Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City route will be resumed from Apr 16, while other routes will be back to operation from Apr 20," Bamboo Airways said in a statement.

Vietnamese low cost airline VietJet announced it would resume domestic operations though it has cautioned customers the expected schedule could change.

While the social distancing guidelines are set to expire after being imposed in late March, the Vietnamese government is considering an extension of the guidelines to combat COVID-19.
