After reopening domestic flights, Vietnam Airlines is planning the resumption of international flights in July.

In a recent update to its flight schedule plans (posted June 5), Vietnam Airlines plans to resume flights on its network to destinations in Europe, Northeast Asia, and Southeast Asia.

For its European routes, the airline plans to operate flights from Hanoi to both Frankfurt and Paris with once-weekly flights each starting July 1.

The airline will also operate flights to South Korea, China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan departing from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh starting the first week of July.

For its Southeast Asia destinations, Vietnam Airlines plans to operate flights to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, and Bangkok.

Flights to Australia, the United Kingdom, Russia, and Japan will remain suspended.

The schedule updates come as Vietnam's government is considering plans to designate areas safe for international commercial passenger traffic to/from the country.

In a report from the VnExpress, Vietnam Airlines CEO Duong Tri Thanh stated the planned resumption of international flights is dependent on the go-ahead from the Vietnamese government. Thanh was quoted saying: “Vietnam Airlines is ready to resume flights as soon as the restrictions are lifted.”
