As Korean Air plans more flight resumptions on its network after suspending services due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the airline has implemented a “Back To Front” zone boarding system on its current domestic and international flights.

Based on zone boarding systems used by other airlines, economy passengers assigned to the rear section of the jet will board first.

Zones will be assigned and printed on passenger boarding passes, and will be based on the three or four zones depending on the aircraft used for the flight.

While passengers assigned to the rear zones will board first, elderly passengers, those with children, and passengers requiring special assistance will be able to board regardless of their zone assignment.

The airline has implemented the zone boarding process due to the COVID-19 pandemic and efforts to reduce infections. It has implemented the new boarding process to reduce crowds waiting in line at the gate during boarding.
