AirAsia Indonesia has further extended its temporary hibernation of flights by another month.

The Indonesian-based subsidiary of the AirAsia Group announced the extension of the suspension of regularly scheduled commercial flights will now last through September 30. However, the airline stressed it will still continue to operate chartered and cargo flights in support of the repatriation of travelers and the shipment of cargo.

The airline's announcement is the second extension for the continuation of the flight suspensions amid the COVID-19 situation in Indonesia. After first suspending operations during the month of July, the airline announced its first extension of the suspensions in early August through September 6 before the latest announcement.

Along with AirAsia Indonesia, its Thailand-based counterpart - Thai AirAsia - also temporarily suspended flight services during the months of July and August. However, Thai AirAsia has since resumed regular flight operations.
