ZIPAIR Tokyo has announced plans to launch flights to connect Tokyo with San Jose, California.
In a release, the long-haul budget subsidiary of Japan Airlines (JAL) plans to launch non-stop flights between Tokyo-Narita and San Jose-Norman Mineta International Airport starting December 2022. The airline will use its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft which will feature a new livery.
Located in the San Francisco Bay Area, San Jose is part of Silicon Valley – home to the global center of technology and innovation.
"We are delighted by today's announcement that ZIPAIR plans to join the Mineta San José International Airport family later this year", said John Aitken, SJC Director of Aviation. "ZIPAIR represents a new kind of airline that leverages technology to provide an efficient, more accessible travel experience—a perfect fit for San José and Silicon Valley. We look forward to working with the ZIPAIR team as plans develop for this new nonstop service between SJC and Tokyo-Narita."
San Jose will be the sixth destination on ZIPAIR Tokyo's network, and the third destination in the US. The airline currently operates flights to Bangkok, Seoul, Honolulu, Singapore, and Los Angeles from its Tokyo-Narita hub.
