China’s Xinhua news agency reported earlier this week Hainan Airlines will start a new flight between Haikou, Hainan island to Sydney, Australia.
The new flights start on January 30 to meet an increased demand for tourism and business. It will be the company’s first international route from the island province and the 7th to Australia. Hainan Airlines will use an Airbus A330 aircraft on the twice-weekly service.
Hainan Airlines currently has 6 routes to Australian cities including Brisbane, Cairns and Melbourne departing from China's Shenzhen, Xi'an, Changsha and other cities. It currently is the largest civil-run airline in China.
