Middle Eastern and Northern African budget carrier Air Arabia has announced plans to launch a new route between Sharjah, UAE and Rome this summer.

From June 1, Air Arabia will launch its new daily service between Sharjah International Airport and Rome Fiumicino Airport. Air Arabia will use its Airbus A320neo aircraft on the new route.

The outbound flights from Sharjah will depart in the morning every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, while departures will be in the afternoon on all other days.

Rome will be Air Arabia's second route to Italy from Sharjah. The budget carrier currently operates daily flights from Sharjah to Milan Bergamo Airport.

“We are pleased to further expand our European footprint with the launch of daily flights to Rome, one of the world’s most iconic and culturally significant cities,” said Adel Al Ali, Air Arabia Group Chief Executive Officer. “Expanding our presence in Italy reflects our continued commitment to offering convenient, direct connectivity to key international destinations while delivering reliable, value-driven travel options to our customers.”

Ivan Bassato, Chief Aviation Officer of Aeroporti di Roma added: “The new service to Sharjah will further expand and diversify the offering to the Arabian Peninsula, reaffirming the strategic importance of the Roman market and strengthening Fiumicino’s international standing as a Skytrax 5 Star Airport and Best Airport in Europe for the past nine consecutive years, thanks to the quality of the services offered to our passengers.”

From Sharjah, other Air Arabia destinations in Europe include Munich, Athens, Vienna, Prague, Krakow, and Warsaw (Chopin and Modin).
