AirAsia has announced an expansion of its services between Malaysia and Indonesia with the resumption of flights to Pontianak from both Kuala Lumpur and Kuching.
AirAsia has announced an expansion of its services between Malaysia and Indonesia with the resumption of flights to Pontianak from both Kuala Lumpur and Kuching.
Announced during the Sarawak Travel Fair in Pontianak, the Kuala Lumpur-Pontianak route will be operated four-times weekly (Sunday, Monday Wednesday, and Friday) by AirAsia Malaysia (AK) from September 12.
On the same day, AirAsia Malaysia will launch flights between Kuching and Pontianak with two daily flights (14 times weekly).
With the addition of the flights to Pontianak, AirAsia Malaysia will be the only airline operating international flights to the capital city of the Indonesian province of West Kalimantan.
Speaking about the addition of flights to Pontianak, AirAsia Malaysia CEO Dato' Captain Fareh Mazputra said: “The strong demand for travel between Malaysia and West Kalimantan has driven us to enhance connectivity, making it easier and more affordable for people to travel for business, tourism and medical purposes.”
The announcement of the two routes to Indonesia follows the recent launch of flights by AirAsia between Kuala Lumpur and Palembang in July. The airline will launch flights between Kuala Lumpur and Semarang in September. Combined, AirAsia Malaysia will operate a total of 17 destinations with 223 weekly flights between Malaysia and Indonesia.
