AirAsia will launch a new route connecting Penang, Malaysia and the Thai resort destination of Phuket.
From March 13, 2026, AirAsia Malaysia (AK) will operate four weekly flights on the Penang-Phuket route – which will connect the Malaysian medical-tourism hub and the Thai resort destination.
In a statement, AirAsia said: “A direct Penang-Phuket service connects these complementary strengths to create a compelling leisure and medical travel corridor, giving guests greater convenience, flexibility and choice while supporting year-round demand and two-way economic activity.”
From AirAsia's hub at Penang, AirAsia operates flights to 12 domestic and international destinations including Singapore, Jakarta, Ho Chi Minh City, Medan, and Shenzhen.
AirAsia currently operates multiple daily flights between Kuala Lumpur and Phuket.
