Garuda Indonesia will be taking on two additional Boeing 737-800s through lease from Aircraft Leasing & Management (ALM).
Announced by ALM – a subsidiary of Fuyo Group Lease (Fuyo) – the two 737-800s that will be leased to Garuda are registered as PK-GUH (MSM 44217) and PK-GUI (MSM 44218). The two aircraft were part of Australia-based REX (Regional) Airlines' fleet, and have since been transitioned to Garuda in Jakarta.
Prior to operating with REX Airlines, the two 737-800s were originally delivered to the former Singapore Airlines' regional subsidiary SilkAir in 2014 before briefly operating with Singapore Airlines between 2021 and 2023 following the merger of SilkAir into its parent company's operations.
“We are delighted to place these B737-800NG aircraft on lease to Garuda, and deepen Fuyo’s relationship with Indonesia’s flag carrier,” said Harry Kemp, VP Marketing, ALM. “This transaction also highlights ALM’s ability to successfully market and manage the transition of used aircraft.”
Rahmat Hanafi, Director of Maintenance, Garuda Indonesia added: “We would like to thank ALM and Fuyo for their support in improving Garuda Indonesia’s fleet by delivering two Boeing 737-800NG aircraft.”
The leased additional 737-800s feature 176 seats in a two-class configuration with 8 Business and 168 seats in Economy. Of the nearly 80 aircraft on its fleet, Garuda operates around 45 737-800s.
