Alaska Airlines reveals new International Business Class Suites

As Alaska Airlines expands its network to Europe and Asia, the Seattle-based airline released new details about its new, first-ever International Business Class Suites experience on its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.


In a statement by Alaska Airlines, the new Business suites are designed for long-haul travelers featuring full lie-flat suites with privacy doors. It will make its debut on Alaska Airlines' flights from Seattle to Rome which will start on April 28, followed by the Seattle-Seoul route in April and Tokyo this fall.


Each private lie-flat suites have direct access to the aisle, and lounge-style seating that converts into a true flat bed. Passengers can enjoy Alaska Airlines' entertainment system on a 18” HD entertainment screen, and use power outlets and wireless charging for their devices.

Onboard, Alaska Airlines stated Business class passengers will have an “elevated restaurant-quality dining” experience featuring flavors from the US West Coast and Alaska Airlines destinations – including those in Asia. Entree options will include roasted chicken with pasta carbonara on flights to Rome, and Gochujang chicken with traditional banchan on the flights to Seoul. A new dessert cart will be available following the entree service. Passengers will get a beverage and a destination-inspired meal before arrival.


Premium bedding and travel amenity kits will feature bedding designed in collaboration with Pacific Northwest-based Filson.


Internet services will be upgraded to Starlink as the installation is scheduled for the Alaska 787-9s starting this fall.


“We set out to design a Business Class experience that is both sophisticated and authentically Alaska: premium, comfortable and thoughtfully created for our guests,” said Andrew Harrison, Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer, Alaska Airlines. “When we debut our new product this spring, it will raise the bar and redefine long-haul travel, while continuing to deliver the remarkable care that sets Alaska apart on the global stage.”


Passengers traveling onboard the 787-9s in Premium Class and Main Cabin will enjoy complimentary meals and a Filson blanket and pillow. International Premium Class passengers get an additional four inches of legroom, power outlets, a 12” HD screen, complimentary alcohol beverages, and a Filson amenity kit.


Along with its subsidiary Hawaiian Airlines, Alaska Air Group operates direct flights to international destinations in Asia and Europe from Honolulu and Seattle. Alaska/Hawaiian operates flights to Tokyo (Haneda/Narita) Osaka Kansai, and Seoul Incheon. London Heathrow is currently the lone destination in Europe (from Seattle), though Alaska Airlines will launch new routes from Seattle to Rome Fiumicino starting April 28, and a seasonal service from Seattle to Reykjavik starting May 28.
