Cathay Pacific passengers will now be able to track their baggage using Apple's Find My Share Item Location to locate and expedite the baggage return process.

The Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific reported it has added the new feature to its baggage recovery process which passengers can share the “Share Item Location” link from the Find My app on their Apple device via email with the baggage services team. The link is then added to the customer's missing/delayed baggage file.

For the privacy and security of the passenger, location sharing will automatically end as soon as they are reunited with their bag. The location sharing can also be stopped by the passenger at any time, and will automatically expire after seven days.

Apple’s Share Item Location feature is a game-changer, empowering both our customers and our airport teams with faster and more efficient baggage recovery,” Chuek Lo, General Manager Airport Service, Cathay Pacific.  “By combining the human touch of our baggage service teams with new technologies like this, we can give customers greater peace of mind in the rare instances when their bag is lost.”

Location data can be shared from Apple AirTags or Find My network accessories. The airline has advised that customers should verify their Apple device is running iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, or macOS 15.2 or later.
