China Airlines announced it will begin providing free inflight connectivity across all cabins on select aircraft for premium passengers and frequent flyer program members.
From August 1, passengers onboard Taiwan-based flights operated by China Airlines on its Airbus A350-900, A321neo, and Boeing 777-300ER aircraft will be able to access the complimentary Wi-Fi across long-haul and regional routes.
Passengers flying on Premium Business and Premium Economy, as well as Dynasty Club Paragon, Emerald, and Gold members will be able to enjoy unlimited browsing throughout their flight.
Economy Class passengers will be able to access free messaging apps such as LINE, WeChat, Messenger, iMessage, and WhatsApp. Inflight Wi-Fi plans are available for purchase starting from around USD $11.95 (~TWD 350) to USD $21.95 (~TWD 642).
The airline's Wi-Fi services are not available onboard its Boeing 737-800 and Airbus A330-300 aircraft, which will be gradually retired from service over the next few years. However, the 737-800s provides access to movies, TV shows, music, and flight information through passengers' personal devices through its “Fantasy Sky Wireless In-flight Entertainment” system. The system will also be offered onboard the A330-300s.
