Airbus has secured a commitment for 101 A320neo Family aircraft from China Eastern Airlines (China Eastern).
In a filing to the Shanghai Stock Exchange, Shanghai-based China Eastern will purchase the 101 aircraft worth around CHY 108.89 billion (~USD $15.80 bilion) in list prices. Deliveries are scheduled in batches between 2028 through 2032, which will include A320neo, A321neo and A321XLR single aisle jets.
According to China Eastern, the purchase is part of the company's strategy to plan and reserve fleets in advance, and is pending Chinese government approval.
The new order will add to a previously signed agreement by China eastern for 100 A320neo Family aircraft scheduled to be delivered from 2024 to 2027.
In December, four Mainland Chinese airlines – Air China, Spring Airlines, Juneyao Air, China Express Airlines, and China Aircraft Leasing Group announced deals with Airbus for a combined total of 148 A320neo Family aircraft.
Of the orders announced in December, Air China purchased 60 A320neo Family aircraft worth around CNY 65.66 billion (~USD $9.5 billion).
