Emirates renews partnership with Air Mauritius

Emirates and Air Mauritius have renewed their partnership covering codeshare flights, frequent flyer program cooperation, and cargo handling.


The Dubai-based Emirates and Air Mauritius – the flag carrier of the nation of Mauritius  - signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU0 to formalize a mutual collaboration agreement between the two airlines. The partnership was initially launched in 2003 after Emirates first started flights to the island nation before it was expanded to include an enhanced codeshare agreement on expanded routes in 2013.


Under the partnership, Air Mauritius places its MK flight code on Emirates-operated flights to from Dubai to Cairo, Colombo, Karachi, Dammam, Jeddah, and Riyadh. In return, Emirates places its EK flight code on Air Mauritius' flights between Mauritius and Antananarivo.


Between Dubai and Mauritius, Emirates operates 14 flights per week (twice-daily) using its Airbus A380 aircraft.


In a statement, Emirates Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer Adnan Kazim said: “Our strategic, long-standing partnership with Air Mauritius continues to provide customers of both airlines with travel benefits such as seamless connections on select routes, ability to conveniently using a single ticket for the entire journey, as well as opportunities to earn and redeem rewards on both frequent flyer programmes.”


“The renewal of our longstanding partnership with Emirates marks an important milestone for Air Mauritius,” added Kremchand Beegoo, Chairman, Air Mauritius. “Emirates is one of our key strategic partners, and this enhanced agreement further deepens the strong relationship between our two airlines.”

Beegoo added: "It brings concrete benefits through reciprocal codesharing on select routes beyond our respective gateways, as well as cooperation in frequent flyer programmes and cargo services. This reinforced partnership strengthens the complementarity between our airlines, enabling us to better serve our passengers, fulfill our mission: to serve the Mauritian tourism industry, and to offer Mauritians broader access to an extensive global network.”


Emirates currently has commercial cooperation agreements with 164 interline, codeshare, and intermodal partners covering nearly 1800 cities.
