Etihad has announced commitments to take on 25 additional widebody aircraft, including a new order for the A330-900 (A330neo) – the first by a UAE-based airline.
Announced during the Dubai Airshow 2025, Etihad's commitments for 25 aircraft from Airbus includes 6 A330-900s, and additional orders for 7 A350-1000s (an increase to 27 total A350s ordered), and 3 A350F (an increase to 10 A350F ordered). The agreement will also include a commitment of 9 A330-900s on lease from Avolon.
The first of the newly ordered aircraft are scheduled to be delivered at the start of 2027. Etihad stated the A350-1000s will strengthen long-haul capacity, while the A350F will help expand Etihad Cargo's network in global trade flows. The A330-900s will support the airline's mid-haul and regional growth during a period of “extremely constrained widebody supply.”
Etihad noted that it acted quickly to secure some of the last remaining early widebody delivery positions worldwide, ensuring the new aircraft will start arriving from 2027 – ahead of typical long-haul backlog timelines.
