Etihad will deploy its Airbus A380 superjumbo featuring the airline's First Class apartments – The Residence - to Tokyo next summer from June 16, 2026.
According to Etihad, the Abu Dhabi, UAE-based carrier will operate the A380 on flights EY800/EY801 between Abu Dhabi and Tokyo Narita – replacing the A350-1000 currently used on the daily direct flights between the two cities.
Tokyo will become the fifth destination where Etihad operates its A380. The superjumbos are currently deployed on flights to London, Paris, Toronto, and Singapore.
“We've seen strong demand from customers for more seats to Japan, and the A380 allows us to deliver that,” said Arik De, Chief Revenue Officer, Etihad Airways. “The aircraft is particularly well-suited to this route, given the importance of business travel between the UAE and Japan, two nations with deep economic and cultural ties. Japan has always been a favourite destination for our guests, and this move reinforces our commitment to the market."
The deployment of the A380 follows the return of Etihad's eight A380 to operations.
