To boost its services to cities in Australia and the US, Hawaiian Airlines announced it will suspend its flights from Honolulu to Seoul, Fukuoka, and Boston.
The adjustments to the Honolulu, Hawaii-based carrier's trans-Pacific network will start in November, the three routes that will be suspended were described as “underperforming.” Hawaiian's operations that will be affected are the five-weekly flights from Honolulu to Seoul Incheon, three-times weekly to Fukuoka, and four-times weekly service to Boston.
According to Hawaiian, it will reploy the aircraft used on those flights to services from Honolulu to Sydney, Papeete, Los Angeles, and Seattle. Hawaiian stated it will also support operations across its Hawaii network.
The last flights to Fukuoka and Boston to Honolulu will depart on November 19, while the last flight from Incheon to Honolulu ou November 21.
From Honolulu, Hawaiian will increase its flights on the Honolulu-Sydney route from five-times weekly to daily from December 18 through January 31, 2026; Honolulu-Papeete from once to twice-weekly starting March; a fifth daily flight on the Honolulu-Los Angeles during the periods of November 21-December 1, and December 19-January 6; and a fourth daily flight between Honolulu and Seattle from late November through mid-April.
“It’s always a difficult decision to suspend a route, especially in cities like Seoul, which we have enjoyed serving for over 14 years. However, despite our team’s best efforts, soft post-pandemic travel demand from Asia combined with various market challenges have persisted in Seoul, as well as in Fukuoka and Boston, both of which we entered in 2019,” said Hawaiian Airlines CEO Joe Sprague. “We remain committed to continuing to provide robust Hawaiian Airlines service between Asia and Hawai‘i through our nonstop Japan flights, and via one-stop connections to and from Incheon and beyond with our global partner airlines. These adjustments will ensure we are meeting strong demand for travel to HawaiĘ»i – both internationally and domestically – while providing all our guests access to more destinations.”
Hawaiian stated customers can travel between Hawaii to both Incheon and Fukuoka using connections with partner carriers from its direct flights to Haneda and Osaka Kansai. Hawaiian will also launch a non-stop service between Seattle and Incheon on September 12, while customers traveling to Boston can connect via several US west coast cities with Alaska Airlines.
