Announced by South Korea's Ministry of Justice, citizens of the 14 additional countries -the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Finland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Hungary, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Japan, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates - will be able to use the kiosks.
Previously the service was limited to travelers from Germany, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao.
According to the ministry, the countries on the list was based on factors such as whether South Korean national are granted similar access in the respective country, the level of people-to-people exchanges, and diplomatic relations. Around 40% of all foreign visitor arrivals are expected to use the automated kiosks.
Currently on a trial operation, the ministry stated it will decide whether to expand the service to other airports in South Korea next month.
