Foreign business travelers arriving in South Korea via Incheon International Airport who are recommended by six local business groups will be able to clear immigration through a dedicated lane.
Currently operating in a testing phase until December, the dedicated immigration lane will be available for travelers at Incheon Airport who have been recommended by one of the six local business groups – the Federation of Korean Industries, American Chamber of Commerce in Korea, European Chamber of Commerce in Korea, Federation of Middle Market Enterprises of Korea, Korea Enterprises Federation, and Korea International Trade Association.
The dedicated lanes is part of efforts to reduce waiting times when clearing immigration procedures at the main international hub of Seoul and South Korea.
Airport authorities also plan to introduce fully automated inspections, and open up automated immigration kiosks currently in use for South Korean nationals to foreign travelers to help further reduce processing times.
“We expect the new service will raise the convenience of the Incheon airport for foreign businessmen,” said Lee Hag-jae, president and CEO of Incheon International Airport Corp.
Following the test run at Incheon Airport, the service may be expanded to other airports in South Korea such as Gimpo International Airport in Seoul and Busan Gimhae Airport.
