JAL announced it will increase its flights between Narita and Melbourne from thrice-weekly to daily. The airline will also resume its flights between Narita and Shanghai Pudong, operating between October 26 and March 28.

Extra Flights to Honolulu

Citing a recovery of Japanese overseas travel demand and the upcoming JAL Honolulu Marathon on December 14, the airline also announced it will operate extra flights and deploy larger aircraft with its First Class product to Honolulu.

JAL will operate special flights between Narita and Honolulu (JL8786/JL8786) using Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft on December 12, 23, 26,28, and January 6, 9, and 11, 2026.

The airline will deploy the larger Boeing 777-300ER aircraft featuring its First Class suites on flights between Haneda and Honolulu (JL71/JL72, and JL73/JL74) on the following days: December 27, 30, January 3, 10, 2026.

Domestic Network

In response to strong inbound demand to Hokkaido during the winter, JAL will increase its flights on the Haneda-Sapporo New Chitose route from 17 to 18 daily flights between January 6 and February 28. Between January 31 and February 28, the airline will increase its flights on the Osaka Itami-Sapporo New Chitose route from 4 to 5 daily flights.

Services to Okinawa (Naha) will be increased from Fukuoka (6-7 daily flights between October 26 to January 31) and Nagoya (4-5 daily flights between December 26 to January 4).

Flights to/from Sapporo Okadama will have seasonal adjustments during severe winter weather to improve responsiveness to irregular operations caused by adverse conditions.
