Mactan Cebu Airport records 11.6 million passengers in 2025

Passenger traffic at the Mactan Cebu International Airport – the Philippines' second busiest air hub – rose to 11.6 million passengers last year.


In a statement highlighting its airport portfolio, Mactan Cebu Airport's operator – Aboitiz InfraCapital Inc (AIC) reported a 3% increase in passenger traffic Mactan Cebu Airport from 11.3 million in 2024 to 11.6 million last year. 


AIC took over the operations of two Philippine airports – Laguindingan International Airport (LIA) near Cagayan De Oro and Bohol-Panglao International Airport (BPIA) – in April and June 2025. LIA served 2.35 million passengers while BPIA served 2.22 million. Covering the period after AIC took over the two airports, LIA and BPIA logged 1.6 million and 1.07 million passengers, respectively. 


LIA is the Philippines' sixth busiest airport while BPIA is the ninth.


Combined, the AIC airports served a total of more than 16 million passengers last year. 


“2025 has been a landmark year for our airports as we continued to expand connectivity for both domestic and international travelers. Passengers arriving at MCIA, LIA, and BPIA now have easier access to key destinations across Cebu, Bohol, and Northern Mindanao, making travel within the Philippines more seamless than ever,” said Rafael M. Aboitiz, Vice President and Head of Airports, AIC.


Of the three AIC-operated airports, the Mactan Cebu Airport's network in 2025 covered 41 routes (28 domestic and 13 international) operated by 20 airlines. Towards the end of last year, the airport welcomed new routes including to Kuala Lumpur (Firefly, AirAsia Philippines), Hanoi (Vietnam Airlines), Brisbane (Jetstar), and Guam (Philippine Airlines).


LIA served 3 airlines operating flights on 4 domestic routes, while BPIA served 8 airlines operating flights on 7 routes (5 domestic and 2 international routes).


From BPIA, South Korean budget airlines including Jeju Air, Jin Air, Air Busan, and Air Seoul operate regularly scheduled international flights to Seoul Incheon and Busan.
