Malaysia Airlines and Qantas has announced a new codeshare agreement  covering routes between Australia and Malaysia.

Building upon their relationship as members of the oneworld alliance, Malaysia Airlines will place its MH flight code on 18 domestic routes within Australia operated by Qantas. With the codeshare flights, travelers make connections from Australia's key international gateways to cities such as Canberra, Darwin, Hobart, and Launceston.

In return, Qantas will place its QF flight code on Malaysia Airlines-operated flights between Kuala Lumpur and its destinations in Australia – Adelaide, Brisbane (resuming on November 29), Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney. The codeshare will also cover Malaysia Airlines' flights to Singapore and domestic Malaysia routes such as to Kota Kinabalu, Langkawi, and Penang.

“Our partnership with Qantas marks an important step forward as we strengthen Malaysia Airlines’ presence in Australia, a key market in our long-term strategy,” said Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, Group Managing Director, Malaysia Aviation Group. “Australia has long been a core part of our network, and our recent investments – including the deployment of the A330neo, increase in flight frequencies, and the resumption of services to Brisbane – reflect our commitment to meeting growing demand while enhancing our premium offering in this market. This partnership supports our broader strategy for sustainable growth, working alongside our partners to deliver a seamless travel experience that puts our passengers at the centre of everything we do.”

“As one of our oneworld partners in Asia, we’re pleased to deepen our relationship with Malaysia Airlines, making it easier for Qantas customers to travel to Malaysia while enjoying frequent flyer rewards and premium service,” added Cam Wallace, CEO, Qantas International.

During the winter (southern summer) season, Malaysia Airlines will boost its services to Australia. The airline will resume services to Brisbane on November 29 with five-weekly flights, and increase flights to both Melbourne and Sydney to three daily flights each (Melbourne – October 30, Sydney – October 31). Services to Perth will be increased from 12 to 14 times weekly from December 1, while the airline's flights to Adelaide will be increased from 5 to 7 weekly from February 1, 2026.
