Summary

A new transit lounge has been opened at Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.

A new transit lounge has been opened at Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.

The new lounge – located at the pre-departure area next to the OFW lounge at Terminal 1 – was launched as part of a partnership between the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) and Philippine Airlines.

Open 24-hours, the lounge has a capacity for around 138 passengers departing at Terminal 1 – regardless of airline. The lounge will also serve as a holding area for inadmissable passengers excluded by the Philippines' immigration department.

"We trust that travelers will find the facility as a welcome respite while enroute to their final destinations," MIAA General Manager Eric Ines said.

As part of the partnership, the lounge amenities – such as seats, charging stations, and shower facilities – are provided by Philippine Airlines.

"Our working partnership with the MIAA on this much-needed project will ensure the comfort and convenience of passengers traveling through the Manila gateway,” said Stanley Ng, Presient and Chief Oprating Officer, Philippine Airlines.  “PAL always advocates collaboration with industry partners. Together, we can do things better."

The new transit lounge is a separate facility from Philippine Airlines' Mabuhay Lounge located in the airside of Terminal 1 for business class and elite status members of the airline's Mabuhay Miles program.
