Qantas has announced it will launch the first non-stop flights between Australia and Las Vegas with a new seasonal service from Sydney during the next winter season.

Qantas has announced it will launch the first non-stop flights between Australia and Las Vegas with a new seasonal service from Sydney during the next winter season (IATA Northern Winter 2026/2027).

From December 29 through March 12, 2027, the Australian carrier will operate three weekly flights (Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday) on the Sydney-Las Vegas route. Using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, the newly announced seasonal service will operate during some of Las Vegas' biggest global events and expos such as the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), and the annual Las Vegas Festival that will kickoff a new season of Australia's National Rugby League (NRL).

The outbound flight QF55 will depart Sydney at 2100H. After a flight time of around 13 hours and 55 minutes, it will arrive in Las Vegas at 1555H.

Qantas has operated charter flights in partnership with the NRL from Australia's East Coast to Las Vegas during the past two years. The airline is currently operating again this season. According to Qantas the flights are fully booked.

In a statement, Qantas International CEO Cam Wallace said strong customer demand for international travel is driving the airline's expansion of seasonal services to destinations such as Las Vegas. Supported by the airline's fleet renewal program, the airline has added new seasonal and regular routes such as Rome and Sapporo.

"Australians' appetite for international travel continues to be incredibly strong. Rome and Sapporo have shown us there's real demand for seasonal services to destinations people want to visit at certain times of year, and we're continuing to expand those direct connections around the world,” Wallace said.

Wallace added: "Our historic fleet renewal is giving us the flexibility to deploy aircraft where we see demand, opening up route possibilities that simply weren't there before. Las Vegas becomes our 101st destination and is a great example of how we're using that capability. This growth also creates real opportunities for our people, particularly our pilots and cabin crew, as we expand where we fly.”

The new seasonal Sydney-Las Vegas service will also serve the travel demand between Australia and Las Vegas. According to Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority President and CEO Steve Hill, Australia is the city's second-largest overseas market and the top international market without a nonstop flight.

“Australia has consistently ranked as our second-largest overseas market and our top international market without a nonstop flight. More than 250,000 Australians visit each year, drawn by the breadth and depth of experiences Las Vegas offers. We are grateful to Qantas for their partnership and confidence in our city,” Hill said.

The new service will also serve the inbound travel demand to Australia from the US, which Australia's Minister for Trade and Tourism Don Farrell said 745,000 Americans visited Australia last year.

Las Vegas will be the 101st destination on Qantas' network, and the eight in the Americas. The Qantas Group operates flights to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, Dallas, New York, Vancouver, and Santiago.
