Boeing and Qatar Airways have announced orders for up to 210 widebody aircraft by the national airline of Qatar from the US-based aircraft manufacturer.

In a deal reported to be worth around USD $96 billion, Qatar Airways will take on a firm order of 160 aircraft – including 130 787s and 30 777-9s. The Doha, Qatar-based airline will also have options for 50 more aircraft.

According to both Qatar Airways and Boeing, the newly announced order breaks several records including the  largest order by Qatar Airways for Boeing jets, the largest single order for 787 Dreamliners, and for widebody jets from Boeing.

To support the newly ordered aircraft, Qatar Airways signed a deal with GE Aerospace for more than 400 engines – including 60 GE9X and 260 GEnx engines. The order is the largest order for widebody jet engines for GE Aerospace.

In a statement, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer said: “This is a critical next step for Qatar Airways on our path as we invest in the cleanest, youngest and most efficient fleet in global aviation. This is so we can meet the strong demand in the airline as we seamlessly connect passengers to the world better than anyone.”

"We are deeply honored that Qatar Airways has placed this record-breaking order with Boeing, one that solidifies their future fleet with our market-leading widebody airplane family at its center," added Stephanie Pope, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "Our team is looking forward to building 787s and 777s for Qatar Airways into the next decade as they connect more people and businesses around the world with unmatched efficiency and comfort."

The newly ordered aircraft will add to Qatar Airways fleet of over 200 aircraft. Qatar Airways currently operates over 150 aircraft from Boeing, including 777s (passenger and freighters), and 787s.

As of April 2025, Qatar Airways has 129 unfilled orders with Boeing, including 25 737 MAX, 94 777X, and 10 787-9s.
