Qatar Airways has selected Panasonic Avionics (Panasonic) to equip its future Boeing 777-9 (777X) fleet with Panasonic's new Converix platform.
Announced during the Paris Airshow 2025, the Doha, Qatar-based airline announced the move as part of its digital transformation and continuous product evolution.
According to Panasonic Avionics, Converix is a “comprehensive hosting platform” that helps manage non-critical cabin services such as cabin and galley operations, lighting, and inflight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC). The platform incorporates the use of artificial intelligence (AI), which will also personalize passenger experiences using the Converix-equipped Inflight Entertainment Systems (IFC). Passengers will have a “hyper-personalised experience” with dynamic content tailored to their preferences and seat-level smart controls.
“This platform not only reflects the progress we have made, but the future we are building,” said Xia Cai, Senior Vice President, Qatar Airways. “Our new platform is more than just a technological upgrade – it is a game changer that will completely redefine entertainment in the sky. With every new milestone, we continue to shape the future of travel and move forward at 35,000 feet and beyond.”
Qatar Airways is the second announced airline customer of the Converix platform. Saudia (Saudi Airlines) previously announced it will equip 39 widebody aircraft – 18 Boeing 787-9s and 21 787-10s – with the new system.
