Saudi Arabia-based startup airline Riyadh Air is adding to its aircraft orders with a new order for up to 50 widebody Airbus A350-1000 aircraft.

Announced during the 2025 Paris Airshow, Riyadh Air's order for the widebody jets includes 25 firm orders with purchase rights for 25 more.

With the order, Riyadh Air will become the first Saudi Arabia-based airline to operate the A350-1000. Offering an operational range of more than 16000 kilometers, the widebody jets will allow the airline to reach the farthest corners of the world from its Riyadh hub.

According to Riyadh Air, the airline will feature a “stylish and exclusive” First Class cabin onboard the A350 which will complement its recently revealed Business Class and cabin interior.

“Our new national carrier is set to take to the skies in the near future, and as a fundamental element of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s infrastructure, will connect our capital city to over 100 international destinations around the globe by 2030,”said His Excellency Yasir Al-Rumayyan, PIF Governor and Chairman of Riyadh Air. “With its outstanding range, adding the Airbus A350-1000 to our fleet demonstrates the strategic contribution of Riyadh Air in positioning Saudi Arabia as a global aviation hub.”

“We are proud to extend our strategic partnership with Riyadh Air as it continues to build a pioneering carrier for the Kingdom. As the long-range leader, the A350-1000 will provide unrivalled efficiency, range and passenger comfort, making it the ideal choice to support the airline’s ambitious growth plans and Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives to enhance global connectivity and economic diversification”, said Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business.

Airbus reports that it has received over 1390 firm orders for the A350 Family of aircraft from more than 60 customers worldwide. 657 of the widebody aircraft are in service around the world.

With the order for the A350s, Riyadh Air will have a total of 182 aircraft on order ahead of its first flight including 60 narrowbody A321neo and 72 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
