Riyadh Air unveils Boeing 787 cabin features

Ahead of its first flight, Riyadh Air revealed the interiors aboard its Boeing 787 Dreamliner.


The Riyadh, Saudi Arabia-based airline company unveiled the interiors aboard its 787-9 fleet which features 290 seats in a four-class configuration. Included are two Business Class sections – with four enclosed suites with fully-flat beds in the front of the cabin called “Business Elite” and 24 seats behind in Business Class.


Among the features that passengers will find in each seat including charging ports and Inflight Entertainment (IFE) monitors. Wi-Fi will available onboard powered by Viasat, and will be free for those signed up with Riyadh Air's frequent flyer program. With the Viasat-powered Wi-Fi, live TV will also be provided for all passengers.


The airline will also launch Panasonic Avionic's fully integrated IFE interactive design and publishing tool - Modular Interactive (MI), a full-featured interactive design tool which offers a quick and easy way to respond to the latest guest trends and provide seasonal updates and promotions. 


According to Riyadh Air, the cabin layout “blend luxury and comfort to deliver a unique and market-changing premium experience.” Colors and materials reflect Saudi heritage.


Speaking on the unveiling of the airline's 787-9 interior, Riyadh Air CEO Tony Douglas said: “Riyadh Air has always promised to deliver a world-class experience for our guests and the unveiling of our cabin interiors make this ambition a reality. The design, layout, and features of our new cabins are carefully crafted to ensure flights are as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. From the ergonomic and luxurious fabrics in the seats to the high-end technology used in the entertainment systems, every facet of the cabins has been chosen to deliver relaxing luxury.” 


Cabin Interior Specifications 


In the first row of the cabin, the four suites in Business Elite will feature Safran's Unity Elite's 78” fully-flat beds in a 1-2-1 configuration. The suite will feature a privacy wall, a 32” 4K OLED screen, and four charging ports – A/C, USB-A, and 2 USB-C.



Behind in Business Class will be 24 suites in six rows using Safran Unity seats in a 1-2-1 configuration. While the IFE will be smaller than in Business Elite (22”), the suite will also feature a privacy wall and four charging ports – A/C, USB-A, and 2 USB-C.



Both Business Elite and Business Class seats will also feature technology from Devialet to deliver high-fidelity sound through the seat headrest without the need for headphones.


The 39 Recaro PL3530 seats in Premium Economy will be have a 2-3-2 configuration. Each of the Premium Economy seats will have a 15.6” 4K screen and 4 USB-C charging ports.


In Economy, the 223 Recaro R3 seats will have a 3-3-3 configuration. Each seat will have a 13.4” K screen and 2 USB-C charging ports.


Riyadh Air plans to launch its first flight before the end of the year.
