SWISS is continuing the suspension of its flights to Dubai and Tel Aviv through the end of March and early April, while additional flights will be offered between Zurich and Delhi.

Amid the ongoing situation in the Middle East, SWISS will suspend its flights to Dubai through March 28. Previously, the flights to Dubai had been cancelled through March 15.

“The reason for the extended suspension is that both airports in Dubai (DXB and DWC) are significantly reducing the number of permitted flight movements due to capacity constraints. As a result, airlines within the Lufthansa Group (SWISS, Lufthansa, ITA Airways, Austrian Airlines, and Eurowings) have been ordered by the airports to cancel all flights during the specified period.”

The airline stated it will assess whether individual flights could be operated despite the significant restrictions in close coordination with the Lufthansa Group.

“Requests will be reviewed by the authorities of the United Arab Emirates on a case-by-case basis, meaning there is no guarantee that a flight or a requested time slot will be approved.”

Separately, SWISS – along with the Lufthansa Group airlines – will suspend flights to/from Tel Aviv up to and including April 9.

Additional Zurich-Delhi Flights

In response to the current high demand for flights between India and Europe, SWISS is expanding its services on short notice.

Between March 19 and 24, SWISS will operate a second daily service between Zurich and Delhi using Airbus A330 aircraft. The extra flights will be in addition to the current daily flights on the route.

“International air traffic in the Middle East remains severely restricted. Many travelers are having to change their original travel plans and are looking for alternative routes back to Europe or onward to Asia. Consequently, demand is currently high for the existing SWISS connections between Delhi and Zurich, which are already largely fully booked. We are pleased to be able to offer our guests additional options in this challenging situation.”
