Singapore Airlines' budget subsidiary Scoot recently completed its inaugural flight to Tokyo's Haneda Airport on March 2.

The inaugural Singapore-Haneda flight – TR882 – departed Singapore's Changi Airport at around 1748H SST on March 1. After covering the 5,292 kilometer route in 6 hours and 5 minutes, the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner registered 9V-OFC arrived at Haneda the following morning of March 2 at 0053H JST.

Between Haneda and Singapore, Scoot now operates daily flights between Singapore and Haneda.

“We are thrilled to broaden our reach in Japan with the launch of our new route to Tokyo (Haneda),” said Hidetoshi Yasutake, Scoot's General Manager-Japan. “Japan has been and continues to be a key market for Scoot and we are committed to enhancing connectivity and convenience for Japanese travellers across our extensive network, while also supporting inbound travel to Japan.”

With the addition of Haneda, Scoot now operates 45 weekly flights from Singapore to four cities in Japan including the two Tokyo area hubs (Haneda/Narita), Osaka (Kansai), Naha (Okinawa), and Sapporo (New Chitose). Scoot also operates flights from Singapore to Narita and Sapporo with a stop at Taipei Taoyuan on both routes.

Haneda Airport is one of the two Tokyo-area air hubs with the other being Narita Airport. Located closer to the Tokyo city center, Haneda is Tokyo's main domestic air hub. Within the past two decades, the airport has welcomed more international flights operated by Japan-based and foreign airlines.

Combined, the Singapore Airlines Group (SIA) offers a total of 28 weekly flights between Singapore and Haneda. The majority of SIA Group's services to Haneda are the 21 weekly flights operated by Singapore Airlines. Japan-based Star Alliance partner airline All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Japan Airlines (JAL) operates two daily flights each on the Singapore-Haneda route.

Scoot is the second Southeast Asia-based budget airline to launch flights at Haneda. Malaysia-based AirAsia's long-haul arm AirAsia X operates daily flights on the Haneda-Kuala Lumpur route.
