Singapore Airlines (SIA) will add a new route to Hangzhou – the airline's ninth route to China – this summer.

From June 1, Singapore Airlines will operate daily flights between Singapore and Hangzhou – located in China's Yangtze River Delta region. The airline will use its medium-haul Airbus A350-900 aircraft on the route featuring 303 seats in a two-class configuration (40 Business, 263 Economy).

The outbound flight SQ838 will depart Singapore at 1740H and arrive in Hangzhou at 2250H. The return flight SQ839 will depart Hangzhou after midnight (0010H) on June 2 before arriving back at Singapore later in the morning at 0510H.

Singapore Airlines' flights to Hangzhou will add to its budget subsidiary Scoot's own five-times weekly flights on the Singapore-Hangzhou route.

Dai Haoyu, Singapore Airlines' Senior Vice President Marketing Planning said: “The launch of services to Hangzhou caters to demand from both leisure and business travellers to China. This new daily service deepens our presence in a key market for the SIA Group, and offers customers greater flexibility, connectivity, and choice when travelling between Singapore and China, and the wider region.”

With the addition of Hangzhou, the SIA Group will operate flights to a total of 22 destinations in Mainland China. Singapore Airlines operates flights to the two Beijing-area hubs Daxing and Capital Airports, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Shanghai Pudong, Shenzhen, and Xiamen. SIA Group's budget subsidiary Scoot will operate flights to 15 destinations - Changsha, Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Haikou, Hangzhou, Kunming, Nanjing, Nanning, Qingdao, Shantou, Shenyang, Tianjin, Wuhan, Xi’an, and Zhengzhou.

Of the listed destinations, Singapore Airlines and Scoot will both operate flights to Guangzhou and Hangzhou.

The SIA Group carriers compete with two other airlines operating flights between Hangzhou and Singapore – China Eastern and Xiamen Air.
