Following AirAsia X, Thai AirAsia X will enter the Central Asian market with a new route between Bangkok and Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Starting December 1, the Thailand-based long-haul AirAsia subsidiary will operate four weekly flights (Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) between Bangkok Don Mueang Airport and Almaty. Thai AirAsia X will use Airbus A330 aircraft with 367 all-Economy seats on the flights.
In a statement, Thai AirAsia X Chief Executive Officer Pattra Boosarawongse said: “This new route is not only our first step into Central Asia from Thailand, but also a bold opportunity to introduce Thai travelers to an exciting destination that’s still relatively undiscovered.”
Thai AirAsia X will add to AirAsia Group's flights to/from Almaty. AirAsia X currently operates flights to the former capital city of Kazakhstan from Kuala Lumpur.
Almaty will be Thai AirAsia X's eighth destination. With a fleet of nine A330s, Thai AirAsia X operates flights from Bangkok Don Mueang to four cities in Japan (Tokyo Narita, Osaka Kansai, Nagoya, and Sapporo New Chitose), Seoul Incheon (South Korea), Delhi (India), and Shanghai Pudong (China).
