The operator of six major airports in Thailand including the two Bangkok area hubs Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang will increase the international Passenger Service Charge (PSC) to THB 1120 (~USD $36) from June 20.

The international departure fee increase was proposed by airport operator Airports of Thailand (AOT) last December during a meeting of the Thai Civil Aviation Board (CAB). CAB approved the increase for the fee that is included on flight bookings upon the purchase of the ticket.

Those departing Thailand from six airports – Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang, Phuket, Hat Yai, Chiang Mai, and Chiang Rai – will see the international departure PSC rise from THB 730 (~USD $23) to THB 1120. Previously planned to be implemented earlier this year, the fee increase will take into effect later into the summer – on June 20.

The domestic PSC will remain unchanged at THB 130 (~USD $4.20).

According to the Civil Aviation Board, the PSC increase will lead to better airport service and safety as the revenue would be invested in more facilities for passengers' convenience at its airports.
