Thai budget carrier Nok Air's international flight operations was been suspended by the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT).
As a result of the order – issued by CAAT Director-General Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon on August 25 – Nok Air will not be allowed to resume its current international flight services or add new routes a list of shortcomings are addressed.
Among the issues that the CAAT stated for the suspension includes unresolved incidents. The CAAT noted Nok Air has experienced multiple safety events since 2023 such as engine shutdowns inflight. The airline has also recorded runway excursions, and tail strikes. In addition, Nok Air has experienced staffing problems due to resignations among pilots and instructors.
According to the CAAT, the problems stated highlights weaknesses in procedures and oversight. It has also raised questions about the airline's training and compliance. An ongoing ICAO inspection taking place since August 27 until September 8 is driving urgent action from regulators.
Nok Air was given a week since August 25 to respond to the suspension order.
In a response to the international flight suspension, Nok Air CEO Wutthiphum Jurangkool stated the airline ceased its international flights in June 2025. Domestic flights are still running under CAAT monitoring, and Nok Air adheres to approved maintenance schedules, international protocols, and has recently passed IATA’s IOSA safety audit.
Founded and launched in 2004, Nok Air operates a fleet of around 7 Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
