Passengers departing from Thailand will see an increase of the Passenger Service Charge (PSC) for international flights next year.
During a recent meeting of Thailand's Civil Aviation Board, Thai Transport Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn stated the international flight PSC will be raised from THB 730 (~USD $23) to THB 1120 (~USD $35) – part of an application submitted to the board by Airports of Thailand Plc (AOT). It is expected to take into effect early next year.
AOT operates six major airports in Thailand – including the two Bangkok-area hubs of Suvarnabhumi and Mueang, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, and Chiang Rai. The PSC is included on the flight bookings at the time of purchase.
According to the Civil Aviation Board, the PSC increase will lead to better airport service and safety as the revenue would be invested in more facilities for passengers' convenience at the airports.
The PSC for domestic flights remain unchanged at THB 130 (~USD $4).
