Tigerair Taiwan recently unveiled plans to invest NTD 40 billion (~USD $1.28 billion) to upgrade and modernize its fleet, as the budget carrier's board approved the purchase and lease of 15 Airbus A321neo aircraft.
Tigerair Taiwan recently unveiled plans to invest NTD 40 billion (~USD $1.28 billion) to upgrade and modernize its fleet, as the budget carrier's board approved the purchase and lease of 15 Airbus A321neo aircraft.
The investment – reported to be worth NTD $40 billion (~USD $1.28 billion) will include the purchase of 4 A321neos and the lease of 11 more. Deliveries of the leased aircraft will be completed by 2031, while the four purchased aircraft will be delivered by 2035.
Each A321neo will have a capacity of 233 – 53 more seats compared to Tigerair's current A320s. Tigerair's annual load factors have reported to be above 85% with some routes to Japan near 90%. The A321neos will add to the fleet and offer a higher capacity.
The airline – a subsidiary of China Airlines – operates a fleet of 17 Airbus A320 aircraft.
