Turkish Airlines partners with Samsung to integrate SmartThings tech for baggage tracking

Turkish Airlines partnered with Samsung to become the launch airline to implement the South Korean tech company's SmartThings technologies in passenger baggage tracking.


Since December 1, the two companies launched the “Smart Tagged Baggage Service,” which allows Turkish Airlines passengers to track lost or delayed luggage using SmartThings Find. Passengers can also upload an image of their baggage, and include their Galaxy SmartTag in their lost baggage report.


Using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and ultra-wideband (UWB) technology to locate registered Samsung Galaxy devices, SmartThings Find is supported by a global network of more than 700 million Galaxy devices to locate smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, earbuds, and items attached with a Galaxy SmartTag.

We are delighted to work with Turkish Airlines to deliver a more convenient and streamlined travel experience.”

Following the partnership with Turkish Airlines, Samsung plans to expand its collaborations with more airlines. The airline also aims to extend the use of SmartThings Find beyond baggage management to other customer services that benefit from location tracking.
