Following the return of the COMAC C909s (formerly the ARJ-21) on its flights to the southern Vietnamese island of Con Dao, Vietjet will double its flights to the island from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
According to Vietjet, the service increase from December 17 will meet the increasing travel demand of residents and visitors to Con Dao during the year-end and New Year period. The airline will operate a total of four daily flights (twice daily each) on the Hanoi-Con Dao and the Ho Chi Minh-Con Dao routes. Both routes are currently served by a daily flight each.
Vietjet previously resumed flights with the C909 to Con Dao on December 15. Acquired through a six-month lease from Chengdu Airlines, the C909s (registered B-652G and B-656E) were first operated by Vietjet to Con Dao from April until October. The aircraft were acquired to operate on the short runway at Con Dao.
The two C909s have 90 seats in an all-Economy Class configuration.
