Vietnam Airlines has confirmed its plans to expand its services to the Philippines with the addition of the central Philippine city of Cebu to its network before year's end.

First reported by aeroroutes, the Vietnamese flag carrier will launch flights between Hanoi and Cebu with three weekly flights (Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday) from December 1. Using Airbus A321 aircraft, the outbound flight will depart as VN643 from Hanoi at 2250H and arrive in Cebu at 0330H the following morning (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday). The first return flight will depart as VN642 at 0500H and arrive back at Hanoi at 0750H on December 2.
In a statement, the new direct Hanoi-Cebu route will eliminate the usual 6-8 transfer time between the two cities, offering a single check-in and smooth baggage handling from start to finish. It is also expected to drive two-way demand – attract Filipino tourists and business travelers to Vietnam while also opening new opportunities for Vietnamese passengers seeking unique island escapes or international experiences in the Philippines.
“The Hanoi – Cebu route is a clear testament to our commitment to expanding regional air connectivity, offering passengers greater convenience and exceptional service quality,” said Dang Anh Tuan, Executive Vice President, Vietnam Airlines. “This new route also reflects Vietnam Airlines’ pioneering role in implementing Resolution 59-NQ/TW on international integration in the new context, contributing to stronger cooperation in tourism, trade, and cultural exchange between Vietnam and the Philippines, and bringing Vietnam closer to the world.”
With the addition of the Hanoi-Cebu route, Vietnam Airlines will offer a total of 17 weekly flights between the Philippines and Vietnam by the end of the year. The airline currently operates flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to the Philippine capital city of Manila.
