While there has been no direct air link between Vietnam and Denmark, according to data from Sabre Market Intelligence 74,000 who travelled between the countries made a connection primarily via Doha, Paris-Charles de Gaulle, and Istanbul.

Copenhagen will be Vietnam Airlines' seventh destination in Europe, following new routes to Munich (launched in October 2024) and Milan (starting July 1). In addition, the airline recently resumed services to Moscow, Russia. Vietnam Airlines also operates flights to Frankfurt, London Heathrow, and Paris Charles de Gaulle.

The new route will connect Vietnam with Copenhagen, boosting the services provided by the Vietnam-based SkyTeam member airline to Europe. The move follows the recent addition of Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) to SkyTeam.
